COVID-19 / CoronaVirus

Fun&Sun are doing everything we can to assist during these difficult times – from advising owners and guests on the current situation, to adapting our cleaning practices to protect our guests based on current CDC advice.  If you believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please contact the FDOH (Florida Dept of Health) 24/7 Call Center (866-779-6121) or email email hidden; JavaScript is required or Lee County’s number (239-332-9580) BEFORE traveling to any physician’s office, emergency department, hospital, or urgent care center, to ensure proper protective measures are taken to prevent further risk of spread to others. If possible, also review your signs, symptoms and travel history with your physician over the phone. Your physician will evaluate you for other possible causes of respiratory illness and also contact the county health department to access COVID-19 testing. If you are without health insurance or a health care provider, please contact Lee County Department of Health at (239) 332-9501 so the health department can coordinate your medical evaluation and testing.

GETTING TO FORT MYERS BEACH

Airports

Auto-Train

By Road

  • From the South, I-75 junction 128 Alico Road; or junction 131 Daniels Parkway
  • From the North, I-75 junction 136 Colonial Blvd; or junction 131 Daniels Pkwy
    • From any of these junctions, you need to find your way to Summerlin Rd and then to San Carlos Blvd
    • There are many ways to get to San Carlos Blvd, but San Carlos is the main access to Fort Myers Beach
    • San Carlos is a dual carriageway in both directions until it reaches the traffic light junction with Buttonwood, just before Matanzas Bridge on to Fort Myers Beach (Estero Island).   At this point the roads become single lane, so the traffic can be slow along San Carlos and on to the Beach
    • Please note that the traffic light at Buttonwood alternates for each lane. So the traffic along San Carlos will move independently for each lane. I suggest that you pick one lane and stick with it; and not keep changing lanes.
    • Also the police do hide behind the hedge at Buttonwood, so do not be tempted to jump the red light, and start your vacation with a ticket! Similarly on Matanzas Bridge, do not be tempted to use the bus lane as the police do occasionally watch for people turning early.
    • If the traffic is likely to be heavy, you might prefer to complete your shopping at one of the supermarkets off-island, so as to not have to endure the slow traffic twice.

SUPERMARKETS / PHARMACIES

There are several big supermarkets about 3 miles off Fort Myers Beach (and all have pharmacies); but generally on your route to the Beach. You might want to look up the exact locations on their websites (the zip code for Fort Myers Beach is 33931). Many guests shop before coming onto Fort Myers Beach to avoid a second journey in case the traffic is heavy.
